The Spiral Stool is the flat packed, self-assembly cardboard stool that could support up to 100 kg weight. Designed by Taipei-based MisoSoupDesign studio let by Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, the Spiral Stool won the Platinum A’Design Award in Furniture, Decorative Items and Home ware Design competition Category. Nagatomo and Jan re-imagined a structural system made with 100% recyclable cardboard sheets that can be assembled without any hardware or glue.
The rotated squares on top and bottom create unique fractal elevation that reflects lights in different angles. The modular units can be also used to configure a small table, and it can be used both by adults and children that can paint on it. The eight pieces of cardboard sheets that connect with each other vertically can stand a weight up to 100 kilograms.
