The highly anticipated Jaguar Type 00 concept car made its grand debut on the opening day of Miami Art Week 2024. This momentous occasion marked the culmination of the British marque’s rebranding efforts, unveiling their vision for luxury electric vehicles. The event ignited a week-long artistic exploration at Art Miami and the Miami Design District, showcasing the intersection of art and innovation.
Jaguar is taking a bold leap forward, having recently introduced its ‘Copy Nothing’ philosophy just two weeks prior to the Miami event. This new ethos signifies a commitment to luxury design, focusing exclusively on electric vehicles. The Jaguar Type 00 stands as a testament to this transformation, embodying the essence of ‘Exuberant Modernism’—a hallmark of the brand’s refreshed identity.
Drawing inspiration from the interplay of light in the works of James Turrell and other artists, this concept car offers a unique blend of space, color, and perception. It creates an artistic and sensory experience that transcends traditional automotive design, inviting onlookers to engage with a new vision of luxury and innovation.
Built on a newly developed JEA architecture, the Jaguar Type 00 is engineered from the ground up to deliver exceptional electric performance. This innovative platform promises engaging handling, luxurious comfort, and an impressive range of 478 miles on a single charge. While the Type 00 remains a concept for now, its production version—a sleek four-door GT—is set to launch in late 2025, further advancing Jaguar’s vision for luxury electric mobility.
The Type 00’s interior boldly mirrors the striking design of its exterior. With dramatic butterfly doors and a unique ‘pantograph’ tailgate, the stage is set for an interior that has been meticulously crafted. The cabin features three linear brass elements, highlighted by a central 3.2-meter-long spine that supports floating instrument panels and seats, creating an airy and sophisticated environment.
A harmonious blend of travertine stone and Kvadrat textiles envelops the space, fostering a warm and tactile atmosphere. The concept car’s experiential focus is further emphasized by three distinctive totems, each made from brass, travertine, and alabaster. These totems, stored in a power-operated compartment accessible from the exterior, can be inserted into the center console, allowing occupants to customize the ambient lighting, soundscape, and graphics of the interior.
As a centerpiece of Jaguar’s showcase at Miami Art Week 2024, the Type 00 takes center stage in the ‘Copy Nothing’ installation located in the Miami Design District, where luxury fashion seamlessly intertwines with architecture. At Art Miami, the exhibition titled ‘Jaguar. Exuberance’ features emerging artists who delve into the brand’s new visual identity through original works.
