Kitson Yachts is charting a new course in superyacht design with the announcement of Project Spyder, an 88-meter Admiral Yacht. Scheduled for completion in 2027, this project, featuring exterior architecture by Espen Øino and interior architecture by FM Architettura, explores the boundaries of bespoke design on the water.
Project Spyder is not simply a yacht; it’s a floating architectural statement, meticulously tailored to the owner’s precise specifications. Kitson Yachts’ management of the project, from concept to completion, emphasizes a commitment to realizing a highly personalized architectural vision within the challenging context of naval design.
“Negotiating yacht specifications on behalf of our clients is what we specialize in,” explains Brandon Kummer, Co-Founder of Kitson Yachts. “Our goal is to guide clients through the entire design process, helping them bring their vision of owning the yacht of their dreams into a reality.” This philosophy is clearly embodied in Project Spyder, where the owner played an active role in shaping the yacht’s design, with Kitson Yachts providing expert support every step of the way.
The selection of The Italian Sea Group as the shipyard was a crucial decision, driven by their cutting-edge 3D technology and integrated digital platforms. This advanced approach provided the confidence necessary to translate the family’s vision into a tangible reality. The collaboration with Espen Øino International for the exterior design ensures a sleek and contemporary profile, while FM Architettura’s interior design promises a haven of sophisticated comfort.
Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, Project Spyder prioritizes innovation and open-space optimization without compromising performance. The yacht boasts an advanced diesel-electric propulsion system powered by electric Azipods, demonstrating a commitment to both efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
The exterior layout seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living spaces, creating an environment perfect for both entertainment and relaxation. With an impressive volume of approximately 3,000 GT, Project Spyder accommodates up to 18 guests across nine staterooms. The owner’s suite on the bridge deck is a highlight, featuring a fully circular private deck offering unparalleled privacy and panoramic views. Communal areas are equally impressive, including a spacious main salon and a forward-facing observation lounge on the upper deck.
The main deck showcases a 10.3-meter by 3.5-meter swimming pool, overlooking a 100m² expandable beach club with four openable hatches that transform into terraces, maximizing the available space. The bow area is a marvel of versatility, converting from a pickleball or basketball court to a helipad as needed. The sundeck is dedicated to wellness, featuring a gym, jacuzzi, and ample lounging areas.
“When designing a custom yacht, great design isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about solving the limitations in standard market options and creating something truly unique for each buyer,” adds Michael Tabor, Co-Founder of Kitson Yachts. “Our goal is to make the investment feel completely worthwhile… We want to change that narrative by opening up more possibilities for our clients. It’s what drives us to deliver the absolute best while meeting every detail of our clients’ specifications.”
FM Architettura’s interior design is inspired by natural light, employing a carefully curated palette of colors, textures, and finishes to enhance the abundant daylight. Generous ceiling heights, custom furnishings, and meticulously chosen materials further elevate the bright and airy atmosphere. Every detail reflects the client’s vision of creating one of the world’s most exclusive yachts, designed for multi-generational enjoyment.
As the custom yacht market continues to evolve, Kitson Yachts remains a trusted advisor, setting new standards for bespoke design and project management. With Project Spyder’s anticipated delivery in 2027, the industry eagerly awaits the unveiling of this game-changing superyacht.
