Tokyo-based architecture firm Nikken Sekkei has teamed up with Japanese creative lab Party and MUJI to realized the new Narita International Airport Terminal 3. The new terminal is exclusively for low-cost carriers. Precisely so, the collaborative team focused on creating a low-cost airport in terms of both architecture and interior design.
The budget for constructing this terminal was approximately half of the usual amount. Due to costs has not been possible to install the typical moving walkways or illuminated signs. Instead, to offer an exciting walking experience that is easy on the feet, designers implemented running tracks used for track and field, and added signage for user-friendly guidance.
