Zimoun’s Installation at STRP Biennial 2015

ZIMOUN

Swiss artist Zimoun has unveiled his latest work at this year’s STRP Biennial in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Using simple and functional components, Zimoun builds architectural platforms using sound. Exploring mechanical rhythm and flow in pre-imposed systems, his installations incorporate commonplace industrial objects. In an obsessive display using simple, functional materials, these works articulate a tension between the orderly patterns of Modernism and the chaotic forces of life. The acoustic hum of natural phenomena in Zimoun’s minimalist constructions reverberate effortlessly, evoking an emotional depth. After exploring the acoustics of the Klokgebouw with his rumbling tower of cardboard boxes during Dutch Design Week last year, Zimoun has returned to Eindhoven with a new work, commissioned by STRP, that is not a screen to project on, even though it may evoke associative projections of all sorts.
